Today was a big step in the right direction. I burned 112 calories on the NuStep machine at the YMCA in Anderson, SC.
No More Excuses
I admit it. I slacked off for a while. While there were several reasons, none of them were all that great. I could make excuses about why I haven’t focused on my health or nutrition. But, as you might expect from previous blogs, that’s not me.
So, it’s time to go onward and upward.
I’ve also added to my exercise regimen at the YMCA. I’ve increased the weight on my crunches to 60 pounds. I’ve been doing more work on my legs. I’ve also worked on my biceps and triceps. More pictures will come later.
In keeping with my exercise and health goals, I’m also continuing to eat better. I start my day with a bowl of Quaker Low Sugar Apples and Cinnamon oatmeal. I also add cinnamon powder since it is good for your health. I then add a banana and a bowl of Dannon Oikos Triple Zero Greek nonfat vanilla yogurt.
I’ve also added strawberries into my diet as a healthier snack. Did you know that it helps hypertension and heart function? It also has lots of fiber and can reduce cholesterol. Who knew one fruit could do so much?
But, after everything that’s been going on, I constantly remind myself that it’s OK to focus on me. All too often, I let my depression and anxiety get the best of me. As a result, the hard work I put in with exercise and nutrition fell by the wayside, and my gut started showing again. I can’t let that happen anymore. After all, when I work on myself, I feel happier. When I’m happier, I am able to concentrate better on the things I want to do.
So, I will continue to work on my exercise, nutrition and mental health, and I will continue to move forward to a better, healthier me.
Any thoughts you may have are welcome. Just remember one thing – although your chores and responsibilities matter, nothing matters more than your physical health and mental health.
Keep moving forward!
