OMI’s new song, “Cheerleader,” is all over the radio lately, and it brings a great reggae beat that hasn’t been heard in a while. Combine that with Shaggy’s “I Need Your Love” (written about in a previous post), and you have the makings of a reggae comeback to popular radio.
As I said in the earlier post, I previously lived in #Florida. Specifically, I lived in #Miami #FortLauderdale and #BocaRaton. Throughout that time, there was a vibe that I have yet to see here in South Carolina – until now.
These new songs are bringing back the vibe I enjoyed when I lived in South Florida, and I’m loving it.
To be clear, the version of “Cheerleader” that is on the radio now is the #FelixJaehn remix. The original came out in 2012. But, this version’s popularity online has created a firestorm for the song – and I couldn’t be happier. The reggae fusion beat mixed in with the jazzy horn section makes it a great #jam that I turn it up every time it plays.
I sincerely hope that there are more songs like this to come.
