Earlier this week, I wrote that “this week could be a game changer.” Well, it has been – just not in the way I thought it would be.
I applied for a job that I really wanted, but I never got the call to come in for an interview. I called the contact person to let her know I was available to come in this week and ask when to come in. I had to leave a voice mail with that information, and she didn’t call back.
I admit it – I was bummed. But, I realized that there are “other fish in the sea,” if you will.
I know I’ll get something. The tricky part is that I may have to move in order to find it. But, as I’ve learned from the past, moving doesn’t have to be a scary thing. In fact (cue Peter Pan’s crowing), it could be an adventure.
So, my advice to you is this:
- Don’t give up on your goals!
- Do whatever you have to do in order to reach your goals. You may have to do things you’ve never done before – and it may scare you. That doesn’t matter. As Will Smith said in “The Pursuit of Happyness” (and that isn’t a typo), “You want something? Go get it! Period!”
- Remember that you may have to move to a place you’ve never been before. It may be thousands (yes, I said “thousands”) of miles away from where you grew up. That doesn’t matter. Make it your Neverland. If you want something bad enough, you’ll do anything to achieve it. If you give up on it, you didn’t want it bad enough.
Remember what J.M. Barrie wrote in “Peter Pan” – “To live will be an awfully big adventure.”
Go out and live, my friends! (Crowing)
